$MRTZ® Seminar – A Financial Education Experience
$MRTZ® was launched by Town & Country Credit Union in the fall of 2009 in Minot, ND as a way to help educate high school students on a variety of financial literacy topics. This free one day seminar has expanded into Fargo and since 2009 more than 2,600 students have attended! $MRTZ is targeted for high school seniors, but juniors are also invited to attend.
Minot $MRTZ® is scheduled for Monday, October 9th on the campus of Minot State University. Fargo $MRTZ® 2017 date is set for Wednesday, November 1st on the campus of North Dakota State University in the Fargodome. The concurrent breakout sessions, key note address and student panel all seek to provide concepts of personal finance as set forth by the ND Department of Public Instruction. Topics covered include Saving for Larger Purchases, Credit Card Usage, Investing, Interest Rates, Fees, Earning Power, College Costs / Financial Aid, Making and Living Within a Budget.

9:15am – Welcome and Introduction for the day’s sessions
9:30am – Student Panel comprised of college students, sharing their experiences with loans, financial aid, budgeting and credit cards.
10:15am – Concurrent Breakout Sessions

11:35am – Lunch & Concurrent Breakout Sessions
12:15pm – Lunch & Concurrent Breakout Sessions

1:35pm – Keynote Address
2:05pm – Closing Remarks and Door prize drawings
Concurrent sessions include: Intro to Investments, Credit 101, Financial Aid & College Costs and a session on Saving and Budgeting.
Fargo $MRTZ® is coordinated and organized by a team of representatives from: Town & Country Credit Union, NDSU Extension Center and North Dakota State University.
Minot $MRTZ® is coordinated and organized by a team of representatives from: Town & Country Credit Union, NDSU Extension Center, Minot State University and KMOT-TV.
$MRTZ® is FREE for high school students and faculty to attend thanks to the financial and in-kind support provided by: Town & Country Credit Union, Minot State University, North Dakota State University and KMOT-TV.
